Gerri Ann Siwek was born in 1951 in Hamilton Ontario. She studied drawing, painting and illustration at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and at the Art Students League of New York.

In 1980 she moved to Regina, Saskatchewan and began creating and exhibiting art while also working as a graphic artist and as an arts educator. She studied Adult Education at the University of Regina. As a visual artist, she creates in various media: drawing, painting, collage, assemblage and installation. She works in series exploring themes of the supernatural and the pseudo sciences. She has created room and window installations of her multi-media artworks. Gerri Ann has received numerous grants and awards and her imaginative and often humorous works of art are included in private, civic and provincial collections.

In 1998 Gerri Ann Siwek created the Funomena Mobile Museum of the Weird and Strange, a traveling museum on wheels featuring 13 exhibits, a souvenir shop and a tour guide. She traveled with her museum to festivals and exhibitions throughout North America and her museum has been featured in television documentaries and print publications.

In April and May of 2007, as a visiting artist and arts educator in Verona, Italy Gerri Ann Siwek exhibited her current works titled 'Sentimental/Ornamental' at the Libreria Gheduzzi, organized through the Verona Associazione Culturale Arte e Territorio. She presented workshops at the Palazzo Forti Gallery of Modern Art in Verona, as part of the programming for their exhibition 'Melancholy:the Seventh Splendour'.

In April 2008 and in September 2010, Gerri Ann attended encaustic workshops in Santa Fe New Mexico, presented by Paula Roland. Gerri Ann has now introduced “Wax Works”: encaustic printmaking and collage in her studio practice.

She has been awarded three major Saskatchewan Arts Board grants and has been their artist-in-residence at Agribition in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and at Ecole Connaught Community School in 2011 and at Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre in 2013.

In 2015 Siwek was an artist-in-residence in the Grasslands National Park.
